About Us

Who Are We?

Upbeat Parenting is your source for positive, inspiring, practical parenting books, support materials, and trainings. While applicable and useful for any family, many of our materials focus on the particular challenges of raising foster, kinship, adoptive, and special needs children. Upbeat Parenting materials and events are known for practical strategies that can be immediately implemented in home or support settings. What began as a casual friendship between two parenting trainers became a writing and teaching collaboration that has stretched over years and projects. Upbeat Parenting is found in magazine and journal articles and is now aiming for a nationally available book. Our workshops can be found at local trainings, and both state and national conferences. A branch of Upbeat Parenting includes Ms. Parker’s “Heart-Stories” which began as personalized stories for her foster, adoptive, and kinship children.
